Who we are
We had a life in Melbourne. A full one — friends, routines, a city we knew how to move through. And somewhere in the middle of it, a question started getting louder. Not whether we were grateful. But whether we were close enough — to family, to the people who wouldn't always be here, to the version of childhood we wanted our daughters to have.
We moved to Penang in early 2026 — not because the timing was perfect, or the fear went away — but because the window we kept saying "one day" to started to feel like it had an expiry date. We wanted our daughters to know their heritage not as something preserved behind glass, but as something alive. People to sit with. A language to stumble through. Streets that slowly start to feel like theirs.
We're not here to tell you what to do. We're just sharing what it actually looks like — the hard parts, the surprising parts, and the parts no one thinks to mention until you're already in it.
